After a near two-year absence from the ring, former WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (pictured left) makes his return.
Foreman (28-2, 8 KOs), who captured the attention of the boxing world after a strong performance against Miguel Cotto at Yankee Stadium in June, 2010, will take on Brandon Baue (12-8, 10 KOs) on Lou DiBella’s card at B.B Kings Blues Club on Jan. 23.
Foreman, who scored a unanimous 12-round decision over Daniel Santos in Nov. 2009 and became the first Jewish world champion since Barney Ross in 1938, injured his knee against Cotto in the seventh round and hung on until being stopped on his feet in the ninth round.
Foreman was stopped in the sixth round by Pawel Wolak on March 12, 2011. Foreman has been studying to become a Rabbi during his absence from the ring.
The Brooklyn resident headlines a card that includes unbeaten prospects Lamar Russ (11-0, 7 KOs), Luis Rosa (11-0, 6 KOs) and Delen Parsley (9-0, 2 KOs).
