BC coach Al Skinner to interview with St. John's

Boston College head coach Al Skinner is expected to be interviewed for the vacancy at St. John’s, a source at Boston College said Friday.
Formerly of Malverne, Skinner appeared on the St. John’s radar after Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt withdrew his name from consideration. Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg, thought to be on St. John’s list, has not been contacted by St. John’s. St. John’s had no comment.
Skinner, 57, has spent 13 seasons at Boston College and has coached the team to seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He played on the Nets with Julius Erving and was a member of the 1975-76 ABA champion.
Skinner was not available, but his wife, Donna, said nothing was imminent and she could not confirm reports that her husband was being interviewed Friday.
"They might have gotten in touch with him,’’ she said from Massachusetts. "We have no idea what is going to happen now.’’
Does her husband want the St. John’s job? "Both my children are graduating from high school, so there’s going to be big changes in our family anyway,’’ she said. "But I like where we are, I like BC. I don’t know. This is where I’m from. My family’s here, my friends. For him, it would be nice because that’s where he grew up.’’
