Wagner gets Syracuse, Temple and Hofstra

Wagner will have ample opportunity to prove last season’s school-record of 25-6 was not a fluke and that it can move on from departed coach Danny Hurley, who took over at Rhode Island.

Armed with first-year coach Bashir Mason, four returning starters, including All-NEC second-team selection Latif Rivers, defensive wizard Kenneth Ortiz and Michigan State transfer Dwaun Anderson, the Seahawks are more than capable of challenging LIU for the top spot in the Northeast Conference and living up to their potential.

More importantly, Wagner has a stacked schedule that should get it some notoriety on the local and national level. The Seahawks play at Syracuse on November 18 and Temple on December 1.

Wagner will also face what should be a much improved Hofstra team at the Mack Sports Complex, Delaware State and North Carolina. The Seahawks will host Penn and Princeton.

Other impact players returning include Jonathan Williams, 6-11 Naofall Folahan, who led the NEC in blocked shots, Orlando Parker, Josh Thompson and Mario Moody.

With three of its six losses coming to LIU and Connecticut, the Seahawks, who didn’t qualify for the post season, have some unfinished business.
