The LIU football team roared back in the second half, only to have its bid for its first victory of the season dashed in the final minute.

Bryant capped a 55.8-second drive with a 37-field goal by Ethan Gettman in the final seconds to defeat the Sharks, 31-29, on Saturday afternoon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

LIU (0-4) had come back to take the lead in the game's final minute.

Michael Coney drilled three fourth-quarter field goals, two of which resulted from the Sharks gaining possession via turnovers, to rally from an eight-point deficit.

Rudy Silvera's interception and Brendan Didier's kickoff recovery gave the Sharks possessions that led to field goals earlier in the quarter.

LIU opens NEC play next Saturday at Merrimack.
