Sam Houston beats Louisiana Tech 9-3 in the lowest scoring FBS game this season
HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Jay Ducker rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown, and Sam Houston capitalized on four turnovers to beat Louisiana Tech 9-3 on Tuesday night in the lowest scoring FBS game this season.
The Bearkats were also involved in the lowest scoring game of the season last week — a 10-7 victory over Florida International.
Sam Houston (7-2, 4-1 Conference USA) has won 10 of 13 games since starting its venture into FBS with an 0-8 start in 2023.
Louisiana Tech had seven possessions inside the Sam Houston 40-yard line, but only scored on Buck Buchanan's 25-yard field goal in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs fumbled on their opening possession of the game and then had turnovers on back-to-back drives late in the first half. Evan Bullock threw an interception that Caleb Weaver returned 24 yards. On Louisiana Tech's next possession, Bullock had the ball slip out of his hands near midfield with 38 seconds left before halftime.
Ducker scored from 40-yards out on the first drive of the second half. He went untouched up the middle and cut it to the outside at the 25 before using a key block to get into the end zone.
Bullock was 16 of 25 for 148 yards with an interception for Louisiana Tech (3-5, 2-3). Backup quarterback Jack Turner started the fourth quarter and finished 8 of 14 for 59 yards.
