The NCAA selected Hofstra to serve as one of two hosts of the 2014 men’s lacrosse quarterfinals, the Division I lacrosse committee said Thursday. It will be the eighth time Hofstra has hosted since 1997. Delaware will be the other quarterfinal site.

The quarterfinal doubleheader will be played on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Shuart Stadium, which is undergoing a renovation with the installation of new FieldTurf and overhead lighting. It seats 13,000.

“I'm really excited about it,” Hofstra lacrosse coach Seth Tierney said. “I think it’s a no-brainer with the size of the stadium . . . the love of lacrosse here on the Island and the tri-state area. The stadium, when it is full, is a pretty unique place to play.”
