Nina Corcoran named Ivy League Attacker of the Year

A force week-in and week-out for Penn women’s lacrosse, Nina Corcoran has been recognized by Ivy League coaches as the conference’s top offensive weapon.
Corcoran, who is from Point Lookout and attended Sacred Heart Academy, was named Ivy League Attacker of the Year on Wednesday. She is the first unanimous winner in the award’s four-year history.
She leads the nation with 48 assists, breaking her own program record of 42, which she set last season.
The senior has propelled the Quakers to No. 10 in the NCAA rankings thanks to three-plus assists in 10 of Penn’s 15 games. This led to her winning Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week a record six times this season.
During Wednesday’s awards announcement, it was also revealed that she was named a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection for the second time in her career (2014). She was named to the second team in 2015.
To cap an award-filled week, Corcoran was named one of 25 finalists for the Tewaaraton award, given to the top college lacrosse player in the nation. The list will be narrowed to 10 candidates – five men and five women -- on May 12 before the winner is chosen on June 2.
