The Harlem Globetrotters will open the newly renovated Stony Brook Arena on Oct. 4, the university announced Wednesday. The Globetrotters will play at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

"We are excited to open Stony Brook Arena with one of the world's great teams that has been entertaining fans for decades," athletic director Shawn Heilbron said in a statement. "The family friendly show that the Harlem Globetrotters provide represents the perfect lead-in for our new arena as we get set to showcase Stony Brook's men's and women's basketball teams and the best game day experience on Long Island beginning in November."
