Marcus Coker, Julian Quinton suspended for Stony Brook's season opener vs. Bryant
Stony Brook running back Marcus Coker will sit out the Seawolves' season opener against Bryant University on Aug. 28 at LaValle Stadium to serve a one-game suspension coach Chuck Priore told Newsday. Linebacker Julian Quinton, a projected starter, also will be suspended for the opener.
Priore said both players were suspended for violations of team rules dating back to February, but neither involved any wrongdoing. Priore did not specify which team rules Coker and Quinton violated.
"We have team policies and procedures, whether it's going to class or practicing hard," Priore said. "We don't suspend just because kids do bad things."
Priore also confirmed the departure of starting defensive tackle Kevin Hauter, who had one year of eligibility remaining after receiving his undergraduate degree. Hauter chose to pursue a career in law enforcement rather than return to grad school.
