Stony Brook loses to Albany, 27-17

Stony Brook scored 14 points in the fourth quarter but couldn't get the stop it needed Saturday in a season-ending 27-17 loss to host Albany.

With the Seawolves (5-7, 4-4) trailing 13-3, John Kinder -- who replaced Conor Bednarski (shoulder injury) in the third quarter -- hit Adrian Coxson with a 79-yard scoring pass. It was Kinder's first pass attempt since week four. He completed 7 of 10 passes for 178 yards.

Albany (7-5, 3-5) answered with Josh Gontarek's 13-yard end- around with 8:11 left. Kinder then hit Donavin Washington on a 48-yard pass to the 1, setting up Marcus Coker's 1-yard touchdown run with five minutes left, but Albany's Omar Osbourne (167 yards, 24 carries) scored on a 68-yard run with 3:23 left.

"I thought John did a nice job,'' coach Chuck Priore said of Kinder. "He made the plays we needed him to make. His competitiveness and ability to stay focused throughout the year was a credit to him as a person. I'm glad John ended his career on a high note.''

Stony Brook lost five games by a total of 26 points, including one in overtime, and dropped the other two by 10 points each.
