The Yankees selected St. John's pitcher Daniel Burawa in the 12th round of the amateur draft Tuesday, but the righthander who played at Rocky Point High School is not likely to sign just yet.

"I'm not sure if I'm going to, it's very up in the air," he said. "I can play for two more years. I have a lot of leverage." Burawa said he will play in the Cape Cod summer league and then have discussions with the Yankees.

Burawa, who played one season at Suffolk had 12 saves this season as St. John's closer, striking out 31 in 23 2/3 innings.

Hofstra first baseman/outfielder Ethan Paquette was was chosen by the Mariners in the 35th round. Stony Brook catcher Justin Echevarria was selected by the Padres in the 40th round.

Infielder/pitcher Joe Van Meter of St. Dominic and Virginia Commonwealth was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 21st round.
