Cutler's season may be over
In his first public remarks since undergoing surgery last week to repair the broken thumb on his throwing hand, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler left open the possibility he might not be able to play again until next season.
"It could be [that] I'm done for the season," he told reporters.
Doctors inserted three screws and two pins to stabilize the fractured thumb, and Cutler said doctors could remove the pins "any time after three weeks, [but they could stay] up to 10 weeks. So it's just a matter of if they're not hindering me being able to throw the ball, [whether] I'm comfortable with them, if they're not pinching. There's a lot of factors."
Cutler was hurt in a Nov. 20 game against the Chargers as he attempted to make a tackle after throwing an interception to Antoine Cason.
"I don't like this," Cutler said of not being able to play. "I don't like coming to meetings. I don't like watching practice. I don't like any of this. This is not what I signed up for. This is not anything I've really been a part of. So it's definitely hard on me."
