Brandon Mosley wants to earn trust as Chris Snee's replacement

Brandon Mosley is focused on winning a starting job, not on replacing a legend.
The third-year guard is the front-runner to fill the position held by Chris Snee for a decade. Snee retired at the start of training camp, meaning the Giants will have a starting right guard on opening day other than Snee for the first time since 2003.
"He's an awesome player," Mosley said of Snee. "Hopefully one day I can be as good as him. He taught a lot of us a lot of stuff when he was here, technique and watching film, what to look for and what not to. It helped out a lot. But I'm excited for it. Hopefully I can fill in his shoes."
When it comes down to it, though, Mosley is just worried about himself. He had a shaky first preseason game against Buffalo but then had a key block on the 73-yard touchdown run against the Steelers.
"There was a lot of improvement from the first game," Mosley said. "I felt like everybody was on the same page. As far as missed assignments, there weren't many."
Mosley's best asset may be his size and power. At 6-5 and 318 pounds, he's a mauler and his effectiveness is more likely to be seen over the course of a game as he wears down opponents rather than two or three series in a preseason game.
Mosley got the first crack at Snee's position when camp opened, and he has held it down since. He doesn't feel like he's earned the starting role just yet, though. What's left to prove?
"That they can trust me," he said. "They know I know my assignments and I can get the job done."
The job of playing guard and not of being the next Chris Snee.
"I still have a lot of room for improvement," Mosley said. "Hopefully I can be that guy."
