Damontre Moore said he doesn’t know much about the controversy surrounding former teammate and current Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, but he did vouch for the Heisman Trophy winner’s personality.
“Honestly, I don't really have any thoughts on it," Moore said when asked about investigations and reports that Manziel accepted money for autographs and memorabilia. “[Manziel] is like a little brother to me, he is a really good kid. I think people are being a little too hard on him … But at the same time, it is like my dad always said, 'I don't look at who's right or who's wrong. I look at what you did to put yourself in that situation.'"
Moore said he thinks getting back to football at Texas A&M will help Manziel.
“There are some things you can coach but he has something that you can't coach -- he's just born with it," Moore said of Manziel. "I am just ready for them to get back to football so all the spotlight can be off of him … All I know is what type of person he is. He's a really good kid. A great team leader and he's the leader down there and he's a ballplayer. That is all I can really tell."
