Daniel Jones' health status unchanged, needs clearance on contact
A quarterback situation – whether it’s an injury issue or anything else – always takes center stage during a football season.
After missing the past two games, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones provided this assessment of his neck injury on Tuesday morning: “Doing everything I can to get back out there. Feeling good, just trying to do everything the doctors and trainers tell me to do. I’m feeling better.”
He added: “I’m able to do everything I need to do from a running, throwing, lifting standpoint,” he said. “It’s mostly a contact thing, like I’ve said. Proving that I can handle that.”
Jones spoke with Kay Adams on the Up & Adams show. Jones has offered a fairly similar sentiment about his injury on that forum for three weeks in a row.
With Tyrod Taylor at quarterback, the Giants lost in Week 6 to the Bills, 14-9, in Orchard Park, and won in Week 7 over the Commanders, 14-7, snapping a four-game losing streak.
Taylor has completed 53 of 80 passes this season, a 66.3 completion percentage, for 571 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, good for a QB rating of 95.4.
Before his injury, Jones had completed 104 of 151 passes, a 68.9 completion percentage, for 884 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions. His QB rating is 71.7.
If Jones isn’t ready this week, Taylor would start again, against the Jets.
