On the eve of training camp, the Giants announced that tackle Evan Neal, coming off ankle surgery early in the offseason, will begin camp on the physically unable to perform list.

That is not a surprise, given Neal’s ongoing inability to participate during most of the spring.

As training camp begins, coach Brian Daboll will be asked Wednesday morning for more details on Neal’s progress, or lack thereof.

In 20 career games, Neal has surrendered 10 sacks and 91 quarterback pressures, according to PFF.

General manager Joe Schoen drafted Neal, who played at Alabama, with the seventh overall pick in 2022.

The Giants did acquire insurance in free agency, signing Jermaine Eluemunor, who can play tackle, and Josh Ezeudu has also shown some position flexibility this spring.

But if Neal continues to be unavailable, he would represent a considerable miss by the Giants.

Conversely, if he can get on the field, he could be motivated to dispel doubts.

The Giants also indicated that cornerback Aaron Robinson has been moved to the physically unable to perform list as well. According to the team, defensive backs Jalen Mills and Stantley Thomas-Oliver have been placed on the non-football injury list.
