When Henry Hynoski underwent knee surgery three months ago, he vowed to do everything he could to return for the start of the regular season. Today he takes a big step towards that accomplishment.

Hynoski has been taken off PUP and will practice with the team for the first time this afternoon. He had been going through some intense running and agility drills over the last few days and this morning he passed his physical and was cleared to return.

That’s good news for an offense that could have some issues blocking and protecting Eli Manning. In the last few days they have lost two of their experienced starting offensive linemen to injuries and replaced them with inexperienced players who could be making their first NFL starts against the Cowboys on Sept. 8.

Hynoski has been sidelined since May 22, when he suffered an injury to his medial collateral ligament and a chip fracture to the lateral plateau in his left knee in the Giants’ first OTA. He underwent surgery two days later.

The move leaves two players remaining on PUP: DE Jason Pierre-Paul and DT Markus Kuhn. The Giants must activate players off PUP by next Saturday to have them eligible to play in the first six games of the regular season.
