No rhino?
"I'm saving it," fullback Henry Hynoski said of his rhinoceros touchdown dance that he broke out in 2012 but kept on the game preserve after Friday night's score in the Giants' 35-24 win over the Jets.
"Plus," Hynoski said of his reason for not going full horn, "I didn't know if I was in or not. It was about as close as you can get. I barely just nicked that pylon."
Shortly after the Giants recovered a fumble early in the third quarter, Hynoski caught a swing pass from Ryan Nassib and dove for the end zone for a 3-yard score. He reached out and touched the pylon with the ball just before he was pushed out of bounds.
Hynoski may not have celebrated the way he did on his only other NFL touchdown, but he said it meant a lot to him.
"It felt good to get another touchdown, especially after the year I had last year," he said referring to his missing virtually all of 2013 with knee and shoulder injuries. "It feels like coming full circle to the year I had before."
It was also important for Hynsoki to score on a pass play, considering he is in competition with John Conner to be the Giants' fullback and needs to prove he can play other positions. He's carried the ball and lined up as a tight end this summer.
"It shows my versatility," he said of Friday night's catch. "I have pretty decent hands, but it can't hurt to go out there and show it again."
