LT's troublesFeb. 14, 1986:Enters drug-rehabilitation program in Houston, but leaves within a week after deciding playing golf is a better alternative.
March 20, 1986: Admits publicly for the first time that he has received assistance for substance abuse.
September 1987: In excerpts from his autobiography, "LT: Living on the Edge,'' published by Sport Magazine, admits to smoking crack up to three times a week, and details how he says he beat NFL's drug testing. Book says Taylor first used cocaine in October 1982 and continued through the 1985 season. Says he failed a drug test in May 1985.
Aug. 29, 1988: Suspended for season's first four games after his second positive test under the NFL's substance- abuse policy.
March 24, 1989: Fails breathalyzer test after police find him asleep behind the wheel of his car while parked on the shoulder of Garden State Parkway. Acquitted of DUI charges two months later.
Feb. 3, 1991: Arrested on misdemeanor criminal property damage charge after allegedly hitting a Honolulu taxi with a metal pipe after a traffic accident. Charges dropped.
May 3, 1996: Arrested in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for allegedly trying to buy $100 worth of crack cocaine from an undercover police officer. Agrees to perform 60 hours of community service.
June 4, 1997: Pleads guilty to filing a false 1990 income tax return.
May 13, 1998: Arrested at his New Jersey home in a sweep of deadbeat parents in the state. Spends several hours in jail before a friend pays $6,000 in child support.
Oct. 19, 1998: Arrested in Florida for allegedly buying $50 worth of crack from an undercover police officer. Sentenced to 18 months' probation and fined $1,259 in court and investigative costs. Condition of the probation is monthly drug testing. Soon after this arrest, Taylor enters a drug rehab clinic in New Jersey.
Oct. 29, 1998: Files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection to avoid foreclosure on his $605,300 home in Upper Saddle River, N.J.
Jan. 6, 2000: Judge drops a minor drug charge with the stipulation that he stays out of trouble for six months. The case stems from discovery of drug paraphernalia in a room rented under his name in a Teaneck hotel in September 1998.
Nov. 8, 2009: Arrested in Dade County, Fla., for leaving scene of an accident. Authorities say Taylor drove two miles before stopping. Released on a $500 bond. Yesterday: Arrested in Suffern, N.Y., and charged with third-degree rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl. Also charged with third-degree patronizing of a prostitute.
