ALBANY - The Giants found out last night that Shaun O'Hara's injury is not a new or serious one. But just as they were sighing with relief over that information, their worry shifted to another player. Hakeem Nicks was carted off the field late in the afternoon session with a hyperextended right knee.

Nicks was scheduled to undergo an MRI last night and will be examined by team doctors Wednesday.

According to the Giants, yesterday's MRI on O'Hara's left ankle (which has kept him out of all four full practices in this training camp) revealed no new injury. The swelling is the result of a chronic condition in the joint, the Giants say, and it will be "treated to reduce the swelling and regain the mobility."

The Giants were very concerned about O'Hara, especially since his injury seemed to sprout up without a contact issue.

"It was kind of a surprise to me as well," O'Hara said Monday. "I felt good running [in the conditioning test on Sunday], and the next thing you know there was some fluid and some swelling. We are taking it easy right now and trying to get some of it out. We want to make sure that we are being smart about it, and we'll take it from there."

Adam Koets has been taking O'Hara's reps with the starters so far in camp, although left guard Rich Seubert will occasionally shift over one spot to deliver snaps to Eli Manning.

As for Nicks, he already has been limited in training camp coming off offseason toe surgery. He has practiced just once a day so far. His replacement at starting receiver had been Mario Manningham, but Manningham missed both sessions Tuesday with a groin injury. That left Sinorice Moss as the starter in the morning, and most likely for the immediate future.
