Odell Beckham Jr. active for Giants against Falcons
Odell Beckham Jr. will make his NFL debut against the Falcons Sunday, nearly five months after he was selected by the Giants in the first round of the NFL draft. Beckham is the last of the 31 first-rounders to play in a regular-season game. Besides the four regular-season games Beckham missed with a hamstring injury, he also missed all five of the Giants’ preseason games.
Beckham has never been a full participant in an NFL practice. He’s been injured since the spring and has aggravated the injury twice in practices that he had to leave early. The most recent setback occurred on Aug. 18.
The Giants also welcomed back another injured player. Linebacker Devon Kennard, a rookie like Beckham and the victim of a hamstring injury like Beckham, returns to action. He played in the opening game against the Lions but left early in the contest with the injury on his first defensive snap.
The one injured Giants player who won’t play is Jon Beason. The linebacker and defensive captain is inactive for the third straight game as he recovers from a foot and toe injury.
The other Giants inactives are Julian Talley, Adam Snyder, Charles Brown, Krry Wynn, James Brewer and Jay Bromley.
The Falcons listed Sean Renfree, Javier Arenas, Tyler Starr, Justin Blalock, Cameron Bradfield, Harry Douglas and Cliff Matthews as inactive. They also placed three other starters on injured reserve during the week.
