Odell Beckham Jr. misses Giants practice again
The Giants may not call it a setback, but it's becoming the status quo. Rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. once again missed practice with a sore hamstring Wednesday, sitting out for the second full day.
The first-round pick from LSU already has been ruled out of Friday night's preseason game against the Jets.
Beckham and the Giants insist he has not re-injured his hamstring, nor do they consider his missing 21/2 practices this week a setback. Beckham said Tuesday through the team's website that he needed this rest to avoid a setback. He practiced Monday but pulled up lame about halfway through the workout and did not return.
Beckham has participated in only six practices this preseason, none of them fully. The Giants still have hope he'll be able to contribute to their offense.
"I think it's just a matter of him getting himself healthy and getting out here," Victor Cruz said Wednesday. "Like I've said before, he's been locked in mentally, and I think that's been the biggest key for him . . . Obviously, coming out here on the field once he gets ready he'll be behind the eight- ball a little bit, having to play some catch-up. He's the kind of guy that can get things squared away and be good to go."
