Sintim, Trattou waived to make room for healthy players
They’re back in New Jersey, and the Giants are making roster moves.
Today the Giants waived LB Clint Sintim, who was recovering from a second torn ACL last summer, because he was unable to pass his physical and they also waived/injured DE Justin Trattou who was sidelined with an ankle and heel injury that the team had said would take another several weeks to heal.
“He kind of expected it just from talking to him,” Terrell Thomas said of Sintim. “He understands the business aspect of football. His biggest thing was to try to progress as much as possible, get his knee healthy, and be able to make a return this year.”
To replace them they signed defensive back and punt return specialist Laron Scott and defensive tackle Bobby Skinner.
They are also working out DT Marcus Thomas today. If they sign him, they’ll have to make another roster move to make room. That might very well mean waiving Shaun Rogers.
Scott is only 5-9 and 184 pounds, but he had a 67-yard kickoff return for the Saints in the Hall of Fame Game a few weeks ago. He was waived the following day. He’s a rookie free agent.
Skinner is 6-3, 298 pounds and played at Montclair State. He grew up in Staten Island.
So to recap, here are the roster moves the Giants have made since they returned from Jacksonville:
ADDED | WAIVED |
DT Carlton Powell | DB Janzen Jackson |
DT Oren Wilson | DT Martin Parker (back) |
WR Laron Scott | LB Clint Sintim (knee) |
DT Bobby Skinner | DE Justin Trattou (ankle/heel) |
