Jets' Aaron Rodgers to play in the preseason? Not likely
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Aaron Rodgers may not play in the preseason.
“My instinct is no,” Robert Saleh said Tuesday.
Saleh said Rodgers “definitely won’t play” in the Jets’ first two preseason games against Washington and Carolina. Saleh didn’t rule out Rodgers starting the preseason finale against the Giants.
Rodgers is returning from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in Week 1 last year. The Jets may decide the work Rodgers gets in joint practices against Washington, Carolina and the Giants are enough.
“I want to leave it open,” Saleh said. “That third game is the one we’re deciding. He definitely won’t play the first two. The discussion on the third one we haven’t had yet.”
