Braylon still prefers to be a Jet

Just in case he hasn't made it perfectly clear already, Braylon Edwards reiterated today that he has eyes for only one particular team.

"I definitely still want to be a Jet," Edwards said this morning on the curb just outside Manhattan Criminal Court, where he was attending a hearing for his DWI case stemming from his September arrest. "Everyone knows that."

Edwards, who turned 28 last month, is an unrestricted free agent and the Jets have publicly expressed their desire to re-sign him, although fellow wideout Santonio Holmes is thought to be the higher priority. Edwards said he spoke with Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum a couple of days ago, but the conversation was mostly just about catching up and wasn't really football related.

However, he said the Jets want to bring him back.

“The interest is there on their side and the interest is there on my side,” said Edwards, who led the Jets with 904 yards and seven touchdowns on 54 receptions during the regular season and had nine receptions for 164 yards and a TD in the postseason. “We've just got to put it together and see what happens.

He added: "If they give me an opportunity, I'd definitely want to come back here, and maybe take advantage of the AFC Championship this year. Maybe we’ll win one."
