Jets pushing Nick Mangold to see sister in London
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- With just a few days until Holley Mangold makes her Olympic debut, Rex Ryan still hasn't given up on trying to convince her older brother Nick to go to London.
Slowly but surely, the Jets coach believes he's wearing down his center. "We're not there yet," Ryan said. "But I'm laying the guilt trip on him and everything else."
Even though the coach gave Mangold his blessing earlier this offseason to travel overseas for his sister's Olympic weightlifting competition on Sunday, the Jets center repeatedly has said he won't leave training camp because of his commitment to the team. Mangold said he still plans to watch Holley's event on TV or on the Internet.
But now, even his teammates are getting on his case. "They're pushing him as well," Ryan said. "It's not just me."
