To no surprise, Woody Johnson has already begun testing the GM market.

CBS Sports reported this week that the Jets have already begun to reach out to potential candidates, including Texans director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan.

Current general manager Mike Tannenbaum has taken considerable heat this season because of the team’s lack of offensive talent, depth – and now – 6-9 record.

A league source told ESPNNewYork.com the Jets “have sent out feelers.” However, the team spokesman declined to comment, citing organizational policy.

Johnson could decide to hire a new GM outright, but according to CBS Sports, Johnson would prefer to keep Tannenbaum – a expert in cap management – on the staff.
