The Jets have made this draft all about Zach Wilson to this point.

General manager Joe Douglas used the Jets’ second-round pick, No. 34 overall, on Mississippi wide receiver Elijah Moore. The Jets seem to be making sure that they build around Wilson, their new franchise quarterback. Their first three picks have been offensive players.

After selecting Wilson second overall, the Jets made a big move to bolster the offensive line. They traded up from 23 to 14 and selected USC guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

"We’re sitting here with a unique opportunity to add three players that are really top 25 players on our board," Douglas said. "All three are first round-caliber players that can be impact players for us."

Trading up to get Vera-Tucker cost the Jets their two third-round picks (66 and 86). Douglas opted not to trade the No. 34 selection to grab multiple picks to shore up more spots. Instead, he used it to add a weapon for Wilson.

"He’s got a great arm," Moore said. "I’m ready to catch a lot of touchdowns."

As a junior, Moore caught 86 passes for 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games. He led the FBS in receptions per game (10.8) and receiving yards per game (149.1). He also rushed 14 times for 64 yards.

Moore lined up in the slot, on the outside and in the backfield for Old Miss. He could be used a variety of ways in offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur’s system, which likes to use receivers in jet sweeps.

His presence could make slot receiver Jamison Crowder expendable. Crowder is in the final year of his contract and is owed $10 million, but it’s not guaranteed.

Douglas said not to read it that way. "I wouldn’t classify it by saying we drafted Elijah to be a replacement," he said. "We drafted Elijah to be a playmaker."

The Jets have emphasized improving the receiving room this offseason. They signed Corey Davis and Keelan Cole in free agency and have high hopes for last year’s second-round pick, Denzel Mims.

They still have more areas to address, including cornerback, edge rusher, more offensive line help and a pass-catching running back.

Unless they make a trade, the Jets have six picks on Day 3 of the draft — two each in rounds four through six.

"As we sit here right now," Douglas said, "we’re very excited to have these six picks tomorrow. We feel like we can do a lot of damage tomorrow."
