The New England Patriots announced via Twitter Tuesday that they will wear their throwback red jerseys Sunday against the Jets.

The jerseys feature former mascot “Pat Patriot,” the American Revolutionary War minuteman, who served as their logo until 1993. And New England is 8-3 when wearing them.

The Patriots donned the jerseys during the 2009 season as part of the NFL’s celebration of the AFC’s 50th anniversary. That same season, New England embarrassed the Titans, 59-0, in Week 6. In 2010, they wore the red jerseys during their 28-18 Halloween win over the Vikings at Gillette Stadium and again on Thanksgiving against the Lions (a 45-24 win).

New England also wore the red throwback jerseys last season at home against the Jets.

The result? A 30-21 Patriots win.
