52°Good Morning

This week marks a significance of sorts. And no, we're not talking about my one-year anniversary on the beat after replacing this guy.

All throughout the league, teams are beginning their, ahem, voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs) this week and the Jets are no different. Today was the first day they could hit the field and see what their 2010 version looks like.

It was also the first day the staff could get a good look at Mark Sanchez's progress.

The second-year quarterback made a few waves today, participating in the team's first OTA session in limited fashion Sanchez, who had surgery on his left knee on Feb. 17 to repair the patella ligament, competed in 7-on-7s and pat-and-go drills with the receivers. He also did some individual work, but didn't participate in any team drills.

How'd he look?

CB Antonio Cromartie told the Associated Press that Sanchez "looked good." But we can't say because there wasn't any access today. We'll get our first chance to see Sanchez & Co. do their thing on the practice field on Thursday. We'll provide the usual details then, so make sure you check out TBD for all the 411.

New Jet Jason Taylor (still have to double check when I write that; weird isn't it?) didn’t practice because he had to attend the 7th annual Jason Taylor Celebrity Golf Classic in South Florida. He’s expected to join the team for tomorrow's OTA session.

NT Kris Jenkins, who’s still trying to make it back from a torn left ACL and expressed interest last week in getting back on the field in minicamp, also did not practice. Neither did LB Ezra Butler, CB Brian Jackson or S Brannon Condren. CB Marquice Cole was limited.

Overall, it sounds as if the players were thrilled with how things went in their initial day on the field together. Damien Woody couldn't hold back his thoughts and sent them out on Twitter for everyone to see.

"After going through practice one thing is certain......we have some major firepower!" Woody said on his Twitter page.

WR Santonio Holmes seemed giddy about his day as well.

"Today was a great day," he Tweeted. "Put on my JETS uni for the 1st time."

Cromartie checked in on Twitter also, saying: "Good day as my first day as a Jet on the practice field. It was fun being aroun the guys o field for our first day of OTA's."
