Could the Jets be returning to their roots?

Farmingdale State is on the list of possible locations for future Jets training camps. Jets staff members already have visited the Long Island campus, sources told Newsday, but the team still is in the early stages of their scouting process.

"We would love to host the Jets training camp," vice president for institutional advancement Patrick Calabria said in an email. "Of course, it has to make financial sense for the college."

Since Rex Ryan became the coach in 2009, the Jets have held training camp at SUNY Cortland every year except for the lockout-shortened 2011 season. But in January, the team announced it will consider other options for next summer.

"SUNY Cortland's been great to us," general manager John Idzik said at the time. "They're extremely hospitable and the campus is a terrific setting for our team to bond and prepare for the upcoming season. At this time, we simply wish to perform our due diligence to ensure we have the best possible environment for our camp."

Stony Brook University was given strong consideration in 2009, but Cortland ultimately was selected as the team's training camp locale. Hofstra had been the site of Jets training camp until 2008 before the team moved to Florham Park, New Jersey.
