The NFL will be back in court Thursday for a hearing before U.S. District Court Judge David Doty in Minneapolis to determine damages in the league's $4 billion negotiation of television contracts.

In March, Doty found the NFL violated terms of the collective bargaining agreement by negotiating the contracts as a war chest in the event of a lockout. The league stipulated in the contracts that the television networks would pay the fees regardless of whether there were any games.

The NFL faces possible damages of up to three times the amount of the television contracts, although it is expected that the case eventually will be resolved if the league and the players come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement. Doty temporarily may put the $4 billion in escrow until the matter is settled.
