QB job up for grabs in Miami
David Garrard, Matt Moore or Ryan Tannehill?
As far as Dolphins new head coach Joe Philbin is concerned, all three are still in contention for the starting job at quarterback.
Garrard has looked the best in training camp so far, but Moore is the incumbent from last season and Tannehill was the team’s first-round draft pick this year. So Philbin wants to see more before he makes his decision on his No. 1 passer.
Philbin told Joe Rose today on WQAM in Miami that all three still have a chance to start the season. Garrard has been the most consistent quarterback so far, and Tannehill is still learning the offense after coming into training camp following a brief contract holdout.
When asked about Tannehill in his daily session with reporters today, Philbin said, “The one thing, it’s funny, and I’ve told this to [assistant quarterbacks coach] Zac [ Taylor] and [offensive coordinator] Mike [ Sherman], he’s so under control at times that he doesn’t look like he has the greatest urgency on occasion. He’s kind of cool and collected.”
