Scott Ford wins on Assistants Tour

       It's a busy week for assistant pros. Some of them were in the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier Monday at Canoe Brook in Summit, N.J. Many were in the first round of the Long Island Open at Wheatley Hills Tuesday. Many others were in the latest installment of the local Assistants Tour at Laurel Links on Monday.

      Scott Ford of North Hills beat Jim Farrell of The Creek in a playoff. It didn't drain them, either. Farrell shot 71 in the Long Island Open Tuesday, Ford shot 72. Both made the cut and put themselves in the hunt for the 36-hole finale Wednesday.
