FIVE STORY LINES

1. Tiger Woods' shot at his first major title since 2008. His knee is healthy and so is his putting stroke. Most observers, including many players, believe his three-win season so far in 2013 makes him the favorite.

2. Rory McIlroy's "comeback." His 2013 was a nightmare until he nearly won in Texas Sunday.

3. Tianlang Guan. 14-year-old from China, winner of Asia-Pacific Amateur, is the golfer everyone is talking about this week.

4. Phil Mickelson's annual Augusta charge. In his past 14 Masters, he has three wins and 12 top 10 finishes.

5. Will a long putter rule? Masters chairman Billy Payne didn't take a stand on the proposed ban on "anchoring" a long putter on the body. It's still legal, and Keegan Bradley and others are skilled in that style.
