Diamond Stars: LI's top performers in baseball and softball

Here are this week’s Diamond Stars, the top performers in high school baseball and softball on Long Island.
BASEBALL
Chris Desiderio, Garden City: He struck out nine in a two-hitter, a 1-0 win over South Side. He went 5-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs in a 16-6 win over South Side.
Noah Kirwin, Eastport-South Manor: He struck out 17 in a 100-pitch no-hitter, a 1-0 win over Harborfields. He struck out the first 13 batters he faced and the only baserunner came on a fifth-inning walk.
Jesse Kostulias, Mineola: He struck out 14 in a three-hitter, a 3-0 win over Valley Stream North. He went 3-for-4 with two home runs, two runs and five RBIs in an 11-1 win over VSN.
Daron Lake, East Meadow: He hit a walk-off single in a 3-2 win over MacArthur.
Aaron Pace, Connetquot: He hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning of a 5-4 win over Sachem East.
Jaden Schmidt, East Islip: He struck out eight in a three-hitter, a 6-0 win over Half Hollow Hills East.
Aiden Susi, Division: He hit a pinch-hit, walk-off two-run single in a 5-4 win over Glen Cove.
Adrian Tavarez, St. Anthony’s: He hit a walk-off single in the eighth inning of a 5-4 win over St. Dominic.
Derek Yormack, Bellmore JFK: He struck out five across 5 2/3 no-hit innings and went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs in a 7-2 win over Calhoun. He had a home run, three intentional walks and four runs — including a straight steal of home — in a 14-13 win over Calhoun.
SOFTBALL
Katie Burke, Westhampton: Burke hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth of a 6-4 win over Eastport-South Manor.
Ava Fierst, Farmingdale: Fierst went 3-for-4 and hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the seventh in a 12-8 win over East Islip.
Melissa Gordon, St. Anthony’s: Gordon pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts in a 5-0 win over St. Joseph’s (Conn.). She struck out six and allowed no earned runs and one hit in a 2-1 win over Archbishop Molloy.
Liana Mills, Central Islip: Mills went 5-for-5 with a triple, a run and three RBIs in a 14-4 win over Floyd.
Julianna Russ, Ward Melville: Russ had two hits, including the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning of a 4-3 win over Sachem North.
Maeve Schiereck, Massapequa: Schiereck went 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs in an 11-6 win over Glen Cove. She added two home runs in the Corey’s Promise Softball Tournament.
Skyler Secondino, Seaford: Secondino struck out nine and allowed no earned runs in a nine-inning complete game 5-2 win over Mineola.
Ariana Shellman, Patchogue-Medford: Shellman had two hits and three RBIs, including a 10th-inning walk-off single in a 6-5 win over Riverhead.
Mia Wulff, Hicksville: Wulff hit a go-ahead two-run single in the top of the eighth inning of a 5-3 win over Clarke.
