Baldwin's 32-29 loss to Elmont Saturday in the Nassau Class AA final at Hofstra not only cost the top-seeded Bruins the county title, it cost Sen. Chuck Fuschillo (R-Merrick) a lunch on enemy turf.

Fuschillo and Sen. Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) had a friendly wager on the game, with each banking on a win for their constituents - Martins for Elmont, Fuschillo for Baldwin. They bet a lunch in the opposition's cafeteria with the members of the winning team.

Martins, whose premonition that "the Bruins are going down" came true, especially was cheering on Elmont point guard Dillon Williams, the recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for character and leadership as part of Elmont's recent Black History Month celebration.

Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) represents both communities, but promised to attend the lunch regardless of the outcome. Said Skelos: "Both teams are outstanding and did their very best. I'm very lucky to represent both communities."

The lunch is expected to take place Friday, but as of yet, no word on the menu.

Said Martins: "Both schools should be very proud of these young men and all three of us will be dropping by to congratulate them on a job well done."
