2011 All-Long Island boys soccer

NASSAU PLAYER OF THE YEAR: NYDER CHARDONNETTE
Uniondale, Forward, senior
Chardonnette, an All-American, helped transform Uniondale to a competitive program. The Knights didn’t make the postseason for 15 years and Chardonnette helped them get there in his final two seasons. He constantly saw double and triple teams in his senior year and it enabled his teammates to benefit. Chardonnette had seven goals and eight assists. He’s a great athlete with excellent speed. Chardonnette also kicks for the football team and runs track and field.

LONG ISLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR: DAKOTA EDWARDS
Sayville, Defender, senior
The future Terrapin spent the 2011 season at defense, but added five goals and 10 assists, helping to lead the Golden Flashes back to the Class A final. Edwards was also recently named an NSCAA All-American and state Player of the Year.

DONOVAN FRASER
Half Hollow Hills West, Forward, senior
Fraser set a single-season school record with 25 goals. He also added nine assists. Fraser, an All-American who will play at Maryland, had 56 goals and 53 assists in his career.

JAKE FREEMAN
Half Hollow Hills East, Midfield, senior
Freeman seemed to play a hand in every goal for Hills East with 19 goals and 17 assists. He helped Hills East win its first league title since 1996 and the Thunderbirds reached the Suffolk Class AA semifinals. Freeman will play at Harvard next season.

JONATHAN KOWALCYZK
Wheatley, Forward, senior
Kowalczyk had 11 goals and four assists to lead the Wildcats to their second consecutive Nassau Class B championship and a trip to the state finals.

ANTHONY LOPATOWSKI
St. Anthony’s, Goalkeeper, senior
Lopatowski played a part in 12 shutouts and helped the Friars win the CHSAA regular season title.

JEFFREY MEDINA
Brentwood, Defender, junior
Medina helped the Suffolk Class AA champion Indians record 13 shutouts and prevented many scoring chances. A natural midfielder, he played defense because the team needed him there.

JIMMY MYERS
Hicksville, Midfield, senior
A big reason why Hicksville maintained possession of the ball was Myers. He was a big key in the Comets’ state Class AA championship for the first time since 1979. He had six goals and eight assists and will play at NJIT.

RICHARD ROBINSON
Elmont, Midfield, senior
Robinson was the playmaker for Elmont. He had eight goals and 17 assists and will play at Clemson.

JUNIOR ROSERO
St. John the Baptist, Forward, junior
Rosero scored goals in the big games. He scored two goals in a 3-1 win over St. Anthony’s in the CHSAA championship game to give the Cougars their first outright championship since 2001. Rosero had 18 goals and six assists.

MATIAS RUIZ
Southampton, Midfield, senior
Ruiz had 24 goals and nine assists and finished his career with 66 goals. He has great vision and usually came away with the ball on fifty-fifty balls.

SEAN SEPE
West Islip, Forward, senior
Sepe, a three-year starter, scored 19 goals and was the linchpin for the Lions, who reached the Suffolk Class AA championship game. The St. John’s-bound Sepe scored 43 career goals.

ANDREW TINARI
Sachem East, Midfield, junior
Tinari helped lead Sachem East to the League I championship and the top seed in the Suffolk Class AA playoffs. He had two goals and five assists and often made defenders stand still when the ball was at his feet.

EVER TORRES
Brentwood, Forward, freshman
Torres was one of the most exciting players to watch. He scored two goals in a 4-0 win over West Islip in the Suffolk Class AA championship game. Torres scored 18 goals and five assists.
