With nine returning starters, Wheatley is in good position to defend the Nassau Class B championship after losing in the Long Island Class B championship to Mattituck last season. The team did lose leading goal scorer Jake Butwin, who scored 15 goals, but there is a lot of experience with 10 seniors.

The defense is very strong with senior goalkeeper Eric Orologio, and senior sweeper B.J. Schiela. Senior midfielder Alex Butwin and senior forward Jonathan Kowalyczk will play key roles, too.
