2011 All-Long Island field hockey

LI PLAYER OF THE YEAR: ALEXANDRA BRUNO
Garden City, Midfielder/Forward, Sr.
Bruno overcame back and ankle injuries to lead Garden City to a second straight Class B state final, scoring a Long Island-high 31 points (including 16 assists) along the way. The two-time All-Region selection has won four Long Island titles and was part of Garden City’s 2008 state championship team. Bruno, who’s committed to Princeton, was also Newsday’s 2010 Nassau Player of the Year.

SUFFOLK PLAYER OF THE YEAR: OLIVIA CABRAL
Sayville, Midfielder, Sr.
Cabral, already an elite passer, made a conscious effort to become even more of a facilitator this season. The result: 28 points, including a Long Island-best 19 assists, and Sayville (19-1) winning its first Suffolk Class B championship since 2006. Golden Flashes coach Patti Fedelem called the Louisville-bound star, "the ultimate leader." Cabral, a two-time All-Long Island and All-State selection, was a member of the USA Field Hockey Futures team.

SAVANNAH FEBESH
Friends Academy, Midfielder, Sr.
Febesh showcased an array of slick moves and shots en route to 27 points (15 goals) and led the Quakers from an 0-5 start to their first Class C Long Island championship since 2006.

CASEY HEELY
Rocky Point, goalie, Sr.
Heely led the Eagles to their first Suffolk Class B final and had the stats (.914 save percentage and nine shutouts) to support the assertion of some coaches that she was Long Island’s top goalie.

TARA MAHON
Garden City, Midfielder, Sr.
Mahon’s impact wasn’t often reflected in the box score, just in all the games. Disruptive on defense and a speedy playmaker on offense, she helped lead the Trojans to a seventh straight L.I. title.

TAYLOR MILLS
Sayville, F, Jr.
Her teammates made the bold prediction that Mills would lead Long Island in goals. Eh-hem...Mills led L.I. with 21 goals and she won the Suffolk Class B final with a penalty stroke.

MADDY MOLINARI
Manhasset, Forward, Jr.
A dual-threat forward with stellar stick skills and savvy, she had 14 goals and a county-high 16 assists in leading the Indians to the Nassau Class B semifinals.

KELSEY O’BRIEN
Massapequa, Forward, Sr.
She did it again! The Navy-bound star led Nassau with 17 goals for a second straight season and her team to a third consecutive Class A county crown.

VANESSA PRYOR
Ward Melville, Midfielder, Sr.
Intangibles: “Her leadership, work ethic and passion were contagious,” Patriots coach Shannon Watson said. Some tangibles: 17 points, including five game-winning goals, leading Ward Melville to the Suffolk Class A final.

KASEY STOLBA
Harborfields, Midfielder, Sr.
Playing half her games on a grass field and competing in a tough Suffolk Division I didn’t stop Stolba from dominating. She led Suffolk with 29 points and guided Harborfields to the Class B semifinals.

KATIE TROMBETTA
Sachem East, Midfielder, So.
Described by coaches as “a phenom” and “the total package,” Trombetta had 28 points and led Sachem East to its first Class A state title. The 10th-grader is already a two-time All-Long Island and All-Region selection.
