Julia Forster helps St. Anthony's win Lindenhurst Invitational girls volleyball tournament
Julia Forster had 11 kills as St. Anthony's topped Smithtown West, 2-1, yesterday in the Lindenhurst Invitational girls volleyball final.
Allison Impellizeri added 10 kills as the Friars prevailed, 25-12, 23-25, 15-12.
Samantha Zebuth had 10 kills and five blocks as the Friars beat Kings Park, 3-0, in the semifinal.
East Meadow 3, Carle Place 1: Aleksandra Krol had 10 kills, Rebecca Alzfan had nine kills and Marrol Cajoles had 12 digs to lead East Meadow to a 25-18, 17-25, 25-21, 25-18 win in Nassau Conference AA-II.Plainedge 3, Garden City 1: Samantha Heffer had 12 kills and three aces, Lisa Maybie had 10 kills and three aces and Devon Hagerstrom had 12 kills for Plainedge in a 24-26, 25-15, 25-13, 25-17 victory in Conference A-II.Division 3, Great Neck South 2: Amanda Pataky had five aces and 14 kills in a 25-17, 24-26, 25-19, 24-26, 25-19 Conference A-III win for Division in Conference A-III. Casey Devlin added three aces and seven kills in the win.
Lynbrook 3, Island Trees 1: Emma Carey had four aces, one dig, three kills, and 16 assists for Lynbrook in a 25-12, 25-20, 20-25, 25-23 win in Conference BC-I. Bridget Kelly added seven kills and four blocks. Shannon Wren had seven kills and five blocks in the win.East Rockaway 3, Clarke 0: Kim McCann had 11 assists, 12 digs and five aces to lead East Rockaway in a 25- 19, 25-19, 25-22 victory in Conference BC-I.BOYS VOLLEYBALLFarmingdale 3, Levittown District 1: Mike Gilaoto had 18 kills and six blocks and Matt DeLuca and Steven Kunz each had nine kills to lead Farmingdale in a 22-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-21 win in Nassau Conference II. Tim Barclay had 23 assists in the win.
Valley Stream Central 3, Uniondale 0: Kevin Goldman had 11 assists, nine kills and two aces to lead Valley Stream Central (3-2) to a 25-16, 25-17, 25-12 triumph in Conference II. Chaminade takes third. Sean Kelly finished third (16:07) and Tom Slattery took fourth (16:09) in the 5K race as Chaminade took third with 106 points at the Bowdoin Cross Country Classic in Wappingers Falls.
