Sophomore Gerald Filardi completed 11 of 12 passes for 367 yards and five touchdowns as Half Hollow Hills West beat North Babylon, 55-34, Saturday in a Suffolk Division II football semifinal.

It was a big day for the Colts, who avenged a 43-15 loss to North Babylon during the regular season.

Hills West (8-2) will meet West Islip (10-0) for the Suffolk Division II championship at Stony Brook University on Saturday at noon.

The Colts led 28-14 at the half on the strength of three long Filardi TDs. He connected with Alexander Filacouris for 51 and 36 yards and threw an 81-yard scoring strike to Cameron Jordan.

Hills West scored on the first possession of the second half to go up three scores, but North Babylon cut the deficit to 34-20 when halfback Brandon Sobotker ran it in from 5 yards, his second TD of the game, midway through the third quarter.

Filardi sealed the game early in the fourth quarter with his fifth scoring pass, a 46-yarder to Jordan (four catches, 172 yards) on third-and-13.

“It was a comeback on the home sideline and Cam stiff-armed the corner away and ran for another 30 yards for the touchdown,” coach Kyle Madden said.
