George Opara's 3-yard touchdown run with 1:30 to play sealed the win for St. Dominic (1-1), which defeated Great Neck South yesterday, 12-0, in Nassau V.

Ron Opara earned the game-ending sack at the 30-yard line to give the Bayhawks their first conference victory in almost 25 years, after the school's football program went dormant from 1988 until 2010, coach Ed Tini said.

St. Dominic went 0-7 in conference play last year, its inaugural season in Nassau V, and played a non-league schedule in 2011.

Justin Rodriguez ran for 152 yards on 20 carries behind an offensive line powered by Dan Isaacs and Ryan Kelly. Dominic Cabey scored on a 1-yard run with three minutes left in the third quarter to give St. Dominic a 6-0 lead, and had 14 carries for 57 yards.

Lucas Cooper made two sacks, John Laughlin made four tackles, and Joseph Venezia had three tackles. Great Neck South is 0-2.

Port Washington 32, Friends Academy 26: James Burns 5-yard touchdown run in the Vikings' second overtime possession gave Port Washington the win.

After the teams traded touchdowns -- a 4-yard run by Friends' Tyrone Perkins and a 12-yard run by Mike Gennusa -- Friends Academy missed a field goal, giving Port Washington the ball at the 20-yard line.

Gennusa's 10-yard touchdown run with 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter tied the game at 20. A missed extra point sent it to overtime.

Gennusa ran for 211 yards and four touchdowns. Burnes rushed for 42 yards and one touchdown. Manuel Salvatierra made five tackles for Port Washington (2-0).

Perkins had four rushing TDs for Friends (1-1).

Great Neck North 17, Long Island Lutheran 8: Justin Nasimi ran a fly pattern down the sideline and caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Brian Kahen with eight minutes left in the third to lead Great Neck North (2-0) over Long Island Lutheran (0-2).

Nasimi also had 49 rushing yards.

Great Neck North took to the air again in the third, with Rom Cohen running a down-and-in route and catching a 9-yard pass from Kahen. The play capped a nine-play drive and put Great Neck North ahead 17-0. Kahen was 7-for-17 for 159 yards.

Roslyn 19, Jericho 6: Isaiah Hunter's 50-yard touchdown catch on a stop-and-go pattern from Adam Combsto gave Roslyn (2-0) a 19-0 lead early in the fourth quarter. Roslyn's defense forced six turnovers, two by Alex Epprecht in the first half.

Chris Snipes ran for 112 yards on 19 carries, and had two touchdowns in the third quarter for Roslyn. Snipes also led the team with eight tackles, and he had two sacks and a fumble recovery.

Adam Combs went 6-for-11 with 91 yards and Thomas Davis had nine rushes for 42 yards, two catches for 12 yards, and made an interception. Jericho is 0-2.
