Nassau Conference I football Week 8 recap
Charlie McKee had four rushing touchdowns in the first half and threw for another score to lead Oceanside past Freeport, 48-16, in Nassau Conference I on Friday night. McKee rushed for 164 yards and four scores on 18 carries and completed 8 of 13 passes for 112 yards and a score. Oceanside (7-1) totaled 390 yards rushing between McKee’s 164, Logan Kowalski’s 93, and Nick Cairo’s 81. Cairo had a 5-yard rushing TD in the third quarter and Ryan Denni had a 2-yard run in the fourth to cap the scoring. Freeport fell to 4-4.
Port Washington 30, Westbury 7: Henry Haberman rushed for 90 yards and three scores on 15 carries, Jett Reiter was 10-for-15 passing for 118 yards and a touchdown and Matt Freeman had six receptions for 94 yards and a TD to lead Port Washington. Jason Lockom finished with eight tackles (three for a loss) and 1.5 sacks. Port Washington concluded the regular season at 3-5 and Westbury finished 0-8.
Hempstead 32, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 0: Dwayne Meadors rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries to lead Hempstead. Jakki Stith completed 5 of 11 passes for 44 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jamir Andrews and a successful two-point conversion pass to Andrews. Stith also had a 20-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Justin Goodson had 12 tackles (three for a loss). Hempstead improved to 4-4 and Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK fell to 2-6.
Syosset 42, Hicksville 6: Matt Ranges threw two touchdown passes and ran for another to lead Syosset. Ranges hit Robert Trapeo for a 19-yard TD in the first quarter. Syosset (6-2) then broke the game open with four touchdowns in the second quarter. John Munoz ran 91 yards in the third quarter for Syosset’s final touchdown. Griffin Ward scored for Hicksville (4-4) on a 7-yard run in the second quarter after Syosset had gone ahead 28-0.
East Meadow 35, Uniondale 13: Brian Surless rushed for 60 yards and two scores on nine carries and Jake Barker caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Spinola to lead East Meadow (4-4) . . Brian Terino had six tackles, one sack and a 6-yard fumble return for a score. East Meadow improved to 4-4 and
