Nassau Conference I football Week 4 recap
Martese Davenport rushed in a 1-yard touchdown to give Freeport a five-point lead with 8:53 remaining in the fourth quarter in a 40-28 victory over Hempstead in Nassau Conference I football Saturday.
Freeport (3-1) outscored Hempstead, 14-0, in the fourth quarter, capped off by D’Angelo Gordon’s 33-yard touchdown run with 4:18 remaining in the fourth quarter for the game’s final score. Gordon rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts and completed 5 of 9 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown.
Jakkai Stith rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns on 17 attempts and passed for a touchdown for Hempstead (1-3). He also had a 76-yard interception return for a touchdown as a part of Hempstead’s 20-point third quarter. Davenport rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries and Nazair Jean-Lubin had a 59-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a 13-yard touchdown reception for Freeport.
Farmingdale 55, East Meadow 14: Tomaso Ramos rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on six carries for Farmingdale. He had a pair of 2-yard touchdown runs that opened the scoring and a 64-yard run in the second quarter that gave the Dalers a 34-0 lead after a Dylan Cassone extra point.
Jordan Smikle caught a 22-yard touchdown at the end the first half and returned a kickoff 90-yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Kyle Wilson threw for 105 yards and a touchdown on 8 of 13 passing. Trevor Gayron made seven tackles for Farmingdale (3-1). Nicholas Spinato rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown for East Meadow (2-2).
Hicksville 12, Port Washington 6: Max Shapiro connected with Gus DeJesus for a 36-yard score in the fourth quarter to break a tie at 6 and lead Hicksville. Shapiro completed 7 of 10 passes for 86 yards and a score and had nine carries for 66 yards. Jarel Turner added 13 carries for 85 yards and Griffin Ward rushed for 28 yards and a TD on six carries for the Comets (2-2). Antonio Filippone had 13 tackles, including two for a loss. The Hicksville defensive line recorded six sacks in the victory. Port Washington fell to 1-3.
Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK/Jericho 14, Westbury 7: Evan Gordon threw for a touchdown and ran for one for Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK. His 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, followed by a Sam Erlich extra point, gave Plainview Old Bethpage JFK/Jericho a 14-7 lead. The Hawks tied the score at 7 after Gordon threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Cody Whalen. Plainview Old Bethpage JFK/Jericho is 1-3 and Westbury is 0-3.
Syosset 21, Uniondale 7: Matthew Ranges threw three touchdown passes to lead Syosset. Nick Accardo’s 42-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter opened the scoring for Syosset (3-1). Ranges also threw touchdown passes of 10 and 26 yards to Luca Cutolo to extend the lead to 21-0 entering halftime. Uniondale is 0-3.
