Nassau Conference II football Week 5 recap

James Napoli had 201 yards and two rushing touchdowns to lead MacArthur past Carey, 20-13, in Nassau Conference II football Friday night. Napoli capped an eight play, 92-yard drive with an 11-yard rushing touchdown to put MacArthur up 20-7 in the third quarter. Rocco Hogan had 11 tackles. Ryan Muller rushed for 89 yards and Finn Duffy scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter for the Generals (5-0). Carey fell to 2-3.
Glen Cove 38, Sewanhaka 22: Anthony Schettino rushed for 116 yards and had two total touchdowns for Glen Cove. Schettino scored from one yard out in the first quarter to open the scoring. He added a 65-yard kickoff return score in the third quarter to put Glen Cove (2-3) ahead 30-14. Khaleem Zachary threw for 112 yards, one touchdown and ran in a score. Zachary connected with Christian St. Eloi on a 57-yard touchdown in the second quarter. St. Eloi had four catches for 106 yards and one touchdown. Devon Gonzalez rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown. Sewanhaka is 0-4.
New Hyde Park 41, Calhoun 0: Nick DePompeis rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 30-yard TD pass from Vinny Alvarenga to lead New Hyde Park. Alvarenga completed 3 of 4 passes for 60 yards and a score and rushed for 34 yards and a TD. Demetri John rushed for 30 yards and a score. Walter Reyes, Arsh Singh, Muhammad Mazhar, John Hernandez and Andrew Stein each had a fumble recovery and Nick Sanchez blocked a punt for New Hyde Park (4-1). Calhoun is 2-2.
Elmont 35, Herricks 20: Evan Colwell threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Kimani Lewis with 20 seconds left in the first half to give Elmont a 21-14 halftime lead. Elmont (3-2) scored the next two touchdowns in the third quarter on 15-yard run by Colwell and a 12-yard run by Tyler Meyers to go up 35-14. Colwell completed 8 of 11 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns on six carries. Meyers had 100 all-purpose yards, including nine rushes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Rashaun Stephens Jr. and Isiah Davis added interceptions for the Spartans. Ryan Oommen rushed for two touchdowns and caught a 45-yard TD pass from Thomas Napolitano for Herricks (1-4).

Mepham 32, Baldwin 12: Nick Honerkamp completed 11 of 21 passes for 168 yards and three scores and rushed for 61 yards and a score on 12 carries to lead Mepham. Dylan Dunn had 11 rushes for 76 yards and a touchdown and Michael Cucinella had eight receptions for 96 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Gabe Terra had an interception and Chris Norris recovered a fumble and a sack for the Pirates (4-1). Baldwin is 2-3.
Garden City 49, Valley Stream Central 0: Luke Schmitt completed 10 of 11 passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns and Jack Cascadden rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries to lead Garden City. Jackson Perisa and Will Peters each had receiving touchdowns and Stevie Finnell had 67 yards on seven carries, including a 5-yard touchdown run for the Trojans (5-0). Valley Stream Central is 2-3.
