Nassau Conference II Week 5 roundup
Jack Lozito rushed for 169 yards on 27 carries, including a 4-yard touchdown run with four minutes left in the third quarter for the final touchdown of South Side’s 17-14 win over MacArthur in Nassau Conference II football Friday. Lozito also broke up a pass in the end zone on fourth down with less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter to preserve the win. Nick Papadopulos hit a 17-yard field goal to give South Side (3-2) a 10-7 lead in the second quarter. Michael Melkonian rushed for 72 yards on 11 carries, including a 7-yard touchdown to tie the score at 7 in the second quarter.
Long Beach 48, Bellmore JFK 32: Jeff Conway’s two touchdown passes helped build a 35-6 lead in the third quarter for Long Beach (4-1). Conway found Jack Skarren for a 30-yard TD in the first quarter and Juke Hartman for a 4-yarder in the second. Conway also ran for an 11-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give Long Beach a 26-6 lead. Jack Miller scored a 37-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter and returned a kickoff 69 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Long Beach (4-1).
Elmont 46, Roslyn 26: Kimani Lewis threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns and returned a kickoff 70 yards for another score for Elmont (2-3). Isaiah Davis had six carries for 115 yards and three touchdowns, including an 81-yard score. Justus Nathaniel caught a 70-yard touchdown pass and added an interception. Osagie Ekhator and Nassir Edwards each added a receiving touchdown for Elmont. Ben Anmuth threw for four touchdowns for Roslyn.
Calhoun 26, Sewanhaka 7: Joey Goodman ran for two touchdowns and Aidan Higgins returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns for Calhoun (3-2). Higgins’ interception returns were 38 and 95 yards. Dylan Grech had four sacks and Connor Faughnan had 96 rushing yards on 26 carries for Calhoun.
New Hyde Park 48, Herricks 14: Aidan Garvey rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns for New Hyde Park (3-2). Tom Reilly had a 68-yard touchdown run. Vinny Alvarenga also had two rushing touchdowns. Walter Reyes had eight tackles, three sacks, and a fumble recovery. Jake Rodgers made eight tackles and Jerrel Tondreau made six tackles with two for a loss.
