Nassau Conference III football Week 4 recap
A 6-yard touchdown pass from Luke Galgano to Brian Luzzi with 17 seconds left capped the winning 57-yard drive for Bethpage in its 30-27 win over Floral Park in Nassau Conference III Saturday. Luzzi had three scores.
Following a 28-yard field goal by Sean Smith to put Bethpage ahead 24-14 early in the fourth quarter, Floral Park scored 13 unanswered points and took the lead with 1:17 left in the game on a 14-yard TD catch by Josh Lewis from Chris Naronis to go ahead 27-24. Bethpage’s Galgano finished 9 of 15 passing for 132 yards and a touchdown. Bethpage improved to 3-1 and Floral Park fell to 2-2.
South Side 21, Manhasset 0: Matt Solano rushed for 91 yards on 13 carries. T.J Maher rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. His 9-yard touchdown in the second quarter, followed by an extra point by Nick Papadopulos, gave South Side a 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter, Owen West 6-yard TD, followed by an extra point, pushed the lead to 14-0. Jack Lozito rushed for 63 yards on four carries, including a 52-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, for South Side (2-2). Manhasset is 2-2.
Mineola 35, Bellmore JFK 6: Jack Ryan threw two TD passes and ran for another and Lukas Goring ran for one TD and caught another. Ryan’s 27-yard touchdown strike to Tommy Renner, followed by a two-point conversion gave Mineola a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. Ryan rushed for a 49-yard TD to open scoring in a 21-point Mineola (1-3) third quarter. Renner returned a fumble 56-yards for a TD. Bellmore JFK is 0-4.
Hewlett 38, Valley Stream South 0: Mark Winkler completed 11 of 16 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns and added 107 yards and a touchdown on nine carries to lead Hewlett. Evan Greenberg had seven receptions for 215 yards and two touchdowns and Jon Zenny rushed for 120 yards and two TDs. Ryan Player had 11 tackles for the Bulldogs (2-2). Valley Stream South fell to 1-3.
Plainedge 35, Valley Stream North 0: Travis Shaver completed 12 of 16 passes for 266 yards and a TD and ran for 49 and two scores and Joe Iadevaio caught five passes for 150 yards and a TD to lead Plainedge. Shane Mosia had three sacks and Darren Hill and Steven Frenger each had an interception. It was the third shutout in four weeks for Plainedge (4-0). VSN is 1-3.
Lynbrook 40, Roosevelt 19: Christian Meszaros rushed 14 times for 158 yards and three scores and added eight tackles for Lynbrook. Michael Fagan added 132 yards and two scores. Lynbrook (3-1) rushed for 378 yards behind Dylan Murph, Jake Lunati, Mike O’Hagan, Harrison Kirby and Mann Terry. Tyler Ippolito had 11 tackles. Roosevelt is 1-3.
