OYSTER BAY HOLD ON

Charles Collette rushed for a touchdown with 6:27 left in the third quarter to put Oyster Bay (3-1) up 7-0 and then closed the game by sacking Mineola’s Jason Eccher on a potential winning two-point conversion pass to preserve the 7-6 win with about 2:20 remaining yesterday. Oyster Bay ran out the remaining time.

Eccher had found Quinn Revelant with a 5-yard touchdown pass to bring Mineola within 7-6. Collette had six tackles, including four tackles for a loss. Senior defensive tackle Matt Jaronczyk had six tackles, including three for a loss. Senior linebacker Max Greenspan led the Baymen with eight tackles.

Friends Academy 27, Island Trees 14: Daniel McCooey’s 20-yard interception return in the middle of the second quarter gave Friends Academy (1-3) a 20-8 cushion heading into halftime. He also had two sacks. Kevin Baskind completed three passes for 88 yards, which included a 33-yard touchdown connection with Conor Dineen four minutes into the second quarter. Trayvon Alexander rushed for two touchdowns and 88 yards. He also caught a 28-yard pass. Tyree Hutch ran for 48 yards on 10 carries.

Clarke 42, Valley Stream South 20: Corey Rosenbloom had 17 carries for 176 yards and a touchdown to lead Clarke (3-1). Besnik Dalipi opened the scoring with a 45-yard interception return and added a 23-yard touchdown reception. Austin Lyons-Carman added 12 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown and Vinny Trovato ran for an 11-yard touchdown. Sean Russell completed 2 of 3 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. Head coach John Boyle said he earned his 150th win at Clarke.

North Shore 28, West Hempstead 8: Ryan Aughavin ran 14 times for 170 yards and two touchdowns and threw for a score to lead North Shore (2-2). Brian Tilton ran six times for 31 yards and a touchdown that opened scoring in the first. In the second quarter, Aughavin ran for a 54-yard touchdown and connected with John Magliocco for a 12-yard score. Magliocco also converted all of his four extra-point attempts.

Seaford 26, Malverne 14: Danny Roell had 32 carries for 205 yards and a touchdown to power Seaford (4-0). Roell also had a 40-yard interception return in the third quarter. A.J. Cain completed 4 of 8 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown and Kevin Murphy had four receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown. Mike Andersen added 10 rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown. Jake Brandimart had eight tackles and Tyler Volpi added seven tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery for the Vikings. Maurice Teachery had 14 rushes for 168 yards and two touchdowns for Malverne.

East Rockaway 28, Cold Spring Harbor 7: Colin Barnes had two touchdowns including a first-quarter score that capped a 68-yard drive for East Rockaway (2-2) answering a Cold Spring Harbor touchdown to open the game. Josh Alvarez followed that up with a 2-yard run with 8:49 left in the second to give East Rockaway the lead for good. The Rocks entered halftime with a 14-7 lead. Barnes completed the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth. James Tierney ran 14 times for 89 yards and a touchdown. Barnes had 92 yards.
