Suffolk Division III quarterfinals roundup
Vinny Bolognino caught the game-winning 26-yard touchdown pass from Shane Longin with six minutes remaining to lead No. 4 Harborfields to a 20-16 win over No. 5 East Islip in the Suffolk Division III quarterfinals on Saturday. Bolognino also had a 44-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter and totaled 80 yards on three catches. Sean Tucker intercepted a pass with two minutes remaining to seal the win for Harborfields (8-1). Michael Ferranti caught five passes for 58 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to cut Harborfields’ deficit to 16-14. Longin was 11-for 20 for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Harborfields (8-1) will visit No. 1 Sayville in the semifinals on Friday. East Islip finishes 5-4.
Westhampton 37, Deer Park 20: Nolan Michalowski ran for 157 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries to lead No. 3 Westhampton over No. 6 Deer Park on Friday. Will Gambino threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Andrew Mensch made two sacks and eight tackles, while Jordan Brown and Luck Kilroy each had five tackles. Deer Park finishes 4-5.
Sayville 49, Hauppauge 7: Jake Tripptree completed all nine of his passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half, and Kyle Messina had three rushing touchdowns and a 59-yard touchdown reception as No. 1 Sayville defeated No. 8 Hauppauge. Benny Sands had 10 tackles, including two for a loss, and Joey Byrne had eight tackles, including two for a loss. Timari Jackson and Mikey Sands each added a sack and Dom Lettieri had two interceptions. Sayville is 9-0, Hauppauge finishes 4-5.
Half Hollow Hills West 39, Islip 22: Zachary Vasconcellos scored two touchdowns to help No. 2 Half Hollow Hills West defeat No. 7 Islip. Both of Vasconcellos’ runs were from six yards out, one in the third quarter and the other in the fourth quarter. Joseph Filardi threw three touchdowns for Hills West. Ryan Bonocore, Anthony Raio and Jesse Brooks each caught one touchdown from Filardi. Hills West (8-1) will play No. 3 Westhampton Friday, at Hills West, in the semifinals. Islip finishes 3-6.
